A man simply identified as Austin, believed to be a technician, was electrocuted at a popular wine Bar located at Gas Turbine Road in Rumuekini in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Autin who hails from Kogi State was said to be carrying out repairs in the ceiling of the facility when the incident occurred on Thursday afternoon. Our correspondent learnt that people in the facility raised a distress alarm after Autin did not respond to calls while he was working.
Following the alarm, the management of the wine Bar immediately made a formal complaint to the Choba Police Division and officers were drafted to the scene where Autin’s corpse was discovered and retrieved.
When contacted, the spokesperson of the State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and added that the investigation is ongoing.
She said, “Yes, I can confirm the incident. Police officers from Choba Police had visited the scene for a preliminary investigation. The owner of the Bar made an official report to the police and further investigation is still on. The corpse of the deceased has been deposited in the mortuary.”
